Geneseo 1829

Well not exactly Geneseo, at least not yet.

Geneseo was a colony and because of its early history is more completely documented than many other western towns.
Back East in 1829 there was a great religious revival, and groups desired to do good by establishing churches and schools in the West. The group that founded our town made their plans in Bergen, Genesee County, New York. Eight families in or near Bergen decided to move westward for this reason, and at the time, perhaps would better their families.
     Jump ahead to 1836.
